This is not really a proper post. Usually I put thought, photography and effort into blog posts. But today I have run out of effort and so I’m pitching an idea to you…

Allspunup merino/silk _1012497

Redstone silk/merino Redstone silk/cashmere

_1012763 Lambspun silk/wool

All of these are crying “Shawl!” at me. All (as you may have noticed) contain silk (just call me ‘life’s too short for scratchy’).

I just don’t know which one to do first…

Oh, my! I don’t know which to advise you to do first, but if you decide you don’t want one of them. . . LOL

I usually pick a pattern first and then the fiber/yarn to go with it. Or, I see a yarn and it screams at me that it wants to be a pattern I already have my eye on. Don’t know if that helps here or not, though! Lovely stuff! I particularly like the Spunky Electric and Redstone silk/cashmere. Yummy! :)

    Abby batts, clearly.

Unless maybe the blue Redstone braids in the 2nd row.

Definitely not the Natural Dye Studio Precious. I suspect that is bad, bad silk; you really ought to send it immediately to me. And I don’t even like golden browns.

Ack! I don’t know! Are you feeling more blue or are you feeling more green? I like them all! I would probably spin the top left though, cause I love those colors (and I want to see what it looks like spun!).

  4. Kate/Massachusetts says:

I agree with Elizabeth…spin up that roving and let’s see what you’ve got! Perhaps you’ll just have to throw them all up the stairs and whichever lands on the highest step is the one you start with. :-)

  5. cosy says:

    upper right! upper right!

  6. Ali says:

I’m biased - I’d go for the Abby Batt. ;)

On the other hand, if it were me and I somehow became as skilled a spinner as you, I’d do the All Spun Up blend. Those blues and golds kill me. :)

  7. Joy says:

The color of the Redstone sort of calls to me, but you could assign numbers, put them in a hat and draw one as a last resort ;)

Hmm, the Abby batts look delicious, so that’s awfully tempting. But I also love the blue/purple Redstone silk/cashmere. And I am now very tempted to go fiber shopping. I’ve never tried anything from Redstone and am properly intrigued by your lovely samples.

Of course, you do know that you really can’t go wrong here. All of them look delicious!

  9. Jeanne says:

No help on the pick - they are all just too gorgeous!

My votes are: 1) grey bottom right from Lambspun, and 2) top left multicolor.

Can’t wait to see what you do.

  11. Carie says:

They’re all beautiful but I’d say top right - it’s the colour of frost on the grass so very appropriate for this time of year.

  12. Chantelle says:

I have a habit of making choice by colour, so personally I’d go with the All Spun Up, simply because it puts me in mind of this time of the year when the coppery browns of autumn start to give way to the blue and white of winter.

Of course, if you’re still undecided, you could always write the names of the fibres on scraps of paper then pull one out of a hat (because, you know, random choice is a heck of a lot of fun :D).

Enjoying spinning whichever one you go for.

  13. Helen says:

Arggg. I was going to say upper right and lower left, but I feel your pain. :)

  14. Lauren Haiken says:

Well you certainly do stick to a color palette!

Since it’s getting colder here, I’d go for the silk/cashmere. It should make a luxurious shawl, maybe with some crystal beads for emphasis. If it were me, I’d try to homogenize the colors as much as possible, so I could use some of the estonian lace patterns that we learned in Nancy Bush’s class!

Glad you made it home safely, and glad to see you online again!

I love Lynn’s selfless help for your dilemna. Such a hard choice!

Christmas is NOT coming. Not yet. I’m not ready.

  16. Faith says:

One of the top two, definitely.
