SSAL #5: Colour Ways

If you’re a spinner, you know full well the lure of a gorgeous, hand-dyed, colourful roving. I have a few (dozen) in my stash at the moment. Although I keep buying multi-coloured roving, however, I’ve never been a fan of the barber-pole effect in hand-spun yarn and I hate it when my beautiful roving ends up being a mish-mash of all the colours once spun, sometimes simply collapsing into a grey or murky brown.
In this Spin-a-Long we look at a few different ways of tackling a space-dyed roving, all of which will produce different effects in the finished yarn.

Hmm. I have all the various things I dyed not too long ago, but they’re tops, not roving, and many of the colour sections are pretty small, so not sure if I can do much with them. Oh, I do still have some BFL I dyed with KoolAid, that has longer colour sections and might be good to play with!
I actually need to order some roving at some point. My ebay guy only ever has tops, so that’s most of the spinning I’ve tried so far (other than the hankies!).

Aha - just what I need as I have indeed just reduced a perfectly lovely roving, through diligent and consistent spinning - to the colour of bear poop!
